Edgar Wright Talks Scott Pilgrim @ Apple SoHo; I’m a Giddy School Boy

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Edgar Wright brought Michael Cera (how is his name first on the list) Anna Kendrick and Jason Schwartzman to talk about the Scott Pilgrim movie at the Apple store in SoHo. It was good fun, and I got to see a few scenes from the movie not in the trailer. For the record they make me giddy as a school boy. The whole thing was apparently recorded as a podcast, so it will be available later…more info later.

Ipadness

I typed this lousy post from my friends iPad, it was a fairly rubbish experience. I still want to play mirrors edge on it among other things.
This is not the ultimate blog tool I was hoping for…

iPad: The Great Pooping Machine

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Diggnation’s Kevin Rose (Apple fan) and Alex Albrecht have one of the best discussions about the iPad that I’ve heard so far.

Being that I’ve got neither an iTouch or a Mac Book Pro, I should want an iPad.  Now… I do, because its a neat gadget, but except for a few instances, I’m still left confused as to what kind of situation it would excel in as opposed to its brothers.  This video goes through many of the arguments I’ve had, and has led me to the conclusion of:  I’ll wait and see.

By all means… don’t let this stop anyone from buying me one.

Futures of the Past

I remember being a kid, and the first time I saw a guy with a TV Walkman from Sony, and all I could think was awesome that must have been.  I felt the same way later when the TV tuner was released for the Sega Game Gear.  I thought that at some point in my life, it would be sweet to have a TV Walkman…

Now I, and so many others, have iPods with video.  It’s pretty amazing.  Not only is it more compact than what I imagined as a child, its better, and does so many more things.  OK, true, it doesn’t have the ability to tune into TV airwaves, (maybe never now that the broadcast signal changed?)  but I don’t watch TV that way anymore.  It kind of blows my mind that something that as a child was such a far and away luxury fantasy, is now pretty much the standard plus so many other things.  I mean really, can you imagine bringing an iPhone back in time 10 years.  “Hi, here’s my phone.   Its also my TV/Walkman, hard drive, and gets internet faster than you 56k.”  Let alone that the sheer amount of disk space and playback on these devices was unheard of back then.

And to think, as a child, it hadn’t even occured to me that one day the Walkman and TV Walkman would essentially be one unified device… nor that I wanted that, and could someday have it.

Ugh, I’ll stop now, the old man on the porch feeling is starting to set in.

These fruit shaped post it notes are fantastic, I’m not sure I could bring myself to use them… I wonder if they have seeds printed on them too!

Ashley Wood Makes Me Want an iPhone

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

wwriphone

So apparently, the Age of Empire devs want to make a iPhone game with Ashley Wood.  Probably leaning towards a real time strategy game, which unfortunately means I’ll be bad at it.. Though I assume the price for the game won’t be too bad…
